Baked Chicken Drumsticks

Baked Chicken Drumsticks are great because they are easy to prepare, inexpensive, flavorful, low carb and the kids even love them because they have a handle.

These chicken legs are simply smeared with butter and seasoning then baked in the oven. I score the chicken with a sharp knife before rubbing with butter. This gets the flavors inside the chicken. You can skip this step if you prefer.

Ingredients Needed For Butter Chicken Legs (screenshot for grocery list)

  • Chicken Drumsticks
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Sea Salt

How To Cook Chicken Drumsticks In The Oven

  1. Preheat oven to 425ºF
  2. Pat chicken dry. Score with a sharp knife. Transfer chicken legs to greased rimmed baking sheet.
  3. Mix butter, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Spread mixture onto chicken legs. It will take a bit of patience to get the butter to stick, you want it on top to melt into the chicken legs. Salt chicken.
  4. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until internal temp reaches 165ºF and juices run clear. Flip once half way through cook time.

  • 2 Lbs Chicken Drumsticks
  • 1/4 Cup Unsalted Butter - softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Sea Salt

Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 425ºF
    2. Pat chicken dry. Score with a sharp knife. Transfer chicken legs to greased rimmed baking sheet.
